Description of position:

Vance, Thrift and Biller LLP, CPA's has an opening for a motivated, experienced CPA. As an experienced tax preparer, you will work closely with partners, staff and clients to handle a variety of income, gift, and estate tax related engagements. This includes research, tax planning, and projections, as well as preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLC's and fiduciaries.

This is a unique position for an individual looking for professional growth and increasing responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/business

• CPA certificate

• 4-10 years of tax accounting experience in a public accounting firm preparing tax returns

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong work ethic

• Client service oriented

• Self-motivated with the desire to perform quality work on a timely basis

• Experience with Lacerte Tax software is a plus

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary and benefits packages which include Health Insurance, employer Simple IRA contribution, Sick Leave and Annual Vacation. Continuing education is valued by the firm, so all required CPE is provided. CalCPA and AICPA membership are paid by the firm. The demands of tax season are balanced with a more relaxed off-season including 37.5 work weeks and half-day Fridays.

The firm is located in midtown Ventura, California, in our newly built out offices where all accounting staff have private offices.  About 30 minutes south of Santa Barbara and an hour north of Los Angeles, Ventura has great weather, limited traffic, and more affordable housing.

As a staff accountant, you will work closely with partners and staff to handle a variety of income, gift, and estate tax related engagements. This includes research, tax planning, and projections, as well as preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLC's and fiduciaries.
